11.11.2016 Nakhodka yachtsmen have achieved perfect results in sailing this year
Besides successes in regular races held by the Regional Federation, yachtsmen from Nakhodka showed perfect results at international events. One of them is the Pacific Rim 2016. The Pacific Rim Yacht Challenge (PacRim) is a regatta held among sister cities. Countries represented now also include Australia, New Zealand, USA, Japan. During the biannual event, participants travel to the hosting country and are accommodated in home stays. In 2016, the event was hosted by the Russian city of Nakhodka. Among its organizers were: the Nakhodka City District Administration, as well as local and regional sailing federations. Typically, the event includes 5 days of racing, and social events specific to each city. Awards are presented, and gifts are exchanged. Everyone participating enjoys the friendships created. Foreign guests evaluated the highest organizational level of the race. According to the results of the race, Nakhodka crew left behind teams from Australia, New Zealand, USA and Japan.
At the end of sailing season Aleksandr Trofimenko and Viktor Khodyrev went on joint trip to South Korea on the yachts “First” and “Gastion” (the Beneteau 40.7) for participation in the international challenge Dadohae Cup in the city of Mokpo and Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race in the city of Tongyeong.
Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race is Korea's largest regatta and one of the three major regattas in Asia. Held annually in the fall in the beautiful waters surrounding the city of Tongyeong, the Organizers (Gyeongnam Sailing Federation), together with the Host City of Tongyeong, Host Province of Gyeongnam, and all of the sponsoring organizations and companies have labored over the years to make Yisunsin Cup a truly a premier international sporting event. With between 70 to 100 keelboats participating each year, and several hundred competitors from around 20 countries, this regatta has been covered by more live television broadcasts than any other regatta in Asia. By decision of the Yisunsin Cup organizing committee the yachts were divided into three classes. Each class had a different turn mark, with Division A going the farthest down the channel and Division C going the shortest distance down the channel, and Division B in between A and C. As a result, team First (in their Beneteau 40.7) became the winner of Division B, while Gastion was a winner of Division A. Moreover, Russian Team Gastion won the grand Yisunsin Cup Trophy at the 10th Anniversary Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race.
Korean media immediately called “Gastion” a “dark horse”, as no one expected such a breakthrough among the yachts of Division A. The same reaction was caused after wins of Nakhodka yachtsmen at the Dadohae Cup International Regatta 2016 among the islands off the southern coast of Korea. Team First won gold award while Gastion took second place.
Among those took part in a trip were sports veterans Semen Khvorostukhin, Victor Hodyrev, Aleksandr Trofimenko, Alexei Kondratiev, Georgi Nazarov, Valery Gritsuk, Aleksandr Baranov. Significant contribution to the wins of the teams was made by young yachtsmen Dmitry Hodyrev, Mark Storozhev, Andrey Pobedin, Denis Shelakin, Nikolai Korolev, Ilya Polishchuk, Alexander Yurkin Valentine Yagodkin Anna Sannikov.
