24.11.2016 Vostochny Port set a record of daily unloading of wagons in winter period in 2016
The norm set by the Russian Railways for Vostochny Port JSC is 830 wagons per day. But in practice, this figure is much higher. Thus, in November, Vostochny Port JSC set a record of daily unloading of wagons - 1,500 units (over 70,000 tons of coal) - the highest result of coal unloading in winter period of 2016, says press center of the stevedoring company.
“Our unique technology for handling wagons in winter season, which comprises wagon defrosting facilities and windproof facilities equipped with infrared transmitters installed immediately before the dumping machines, allows to unload the maximum volume of cargo”, noted Anatoly Lazarev, Managing Director of Vostochny Port JSC.
Over the past few years JSC “Vostochny Port” has systematically upgraded all the equipment designed for “unfreezing” cargo. Trains with coal are processed on the premises of the stevedoring company in the drill-ripping complex that has advanced capacious railcar-defrosting facilities. Cylindrical holes are drilled into the frozen coal to allow warm air to permeate it. The warm coal is then transferred to shelters that are protected from wind and equipped with infrared emitters. The moment the railcar is delivered to the Car dumper, the cargo returns to its original loose state.
