19.12.2016 Nakhodka has become a place for implementation of the largest investment project under the Free Port of Vladivostok
The New coal company plans to invest 60 billion rubles in the construction of the coal terminal Sever near Nakhodka city. The agreement about that was signed with the Far East Development Corporation. This will be a joint venture involving Japanese capital investments.
The project stipulates creation of a high-tech coal storage site with a capacity of 1.6 million tons. UPK Sever will be equipped with berths capable to handle vessels with deadweight of 150 thousand tons. Moreover, the terminal will also involve building of over 50 kilometers of railroad track, 11 bridges and overpasses, and four berths with a length of over 900 meters. Projected capacity of the coal terminal will amount up to 20 million tons per year. The first phase of the terminal with a capacity of 6 million tons per year is scheduled to be launched in 2018. The project is expected to lead to the creation of more than 450 jobs. 1 400 people will be engaged in the construction of the terminal. Local companies will be among subcontractors.
The facility will comply with all applicable environmental standards and will pose no environmental hazard either to the inhabitants of Primorsky Territory or to the surrounding ecosystem as a whole.
We would remind you that the state customer for implementation of the Sever project is FTI Rostransmodernizatsiya. About 23.2 billion rubles will be allocated for its realization from the federal budget. 12.8 billion rubles will be invested by JSC “Open Port Nakhodka”. In the course of the meeting with the Head of Nakhodka Andrey Gorelov, General Director of the company Moti Birger told that contract for manufacture of the equipment for the new port had been signed. All the parts for future terminal are planned to be delivered to the construction site in 2017.
It should be noted that the federal law on free port of Vladivostok came into force on October 12, 2015. Mode free port will operate in Nakhodka and 15 municipalities of Primorsky Territory. Free Port regime provides for a wide range of preferences and tax benefits for its residents.
