06.12.2016 The Nakhodka Volunteer Corps marked the Volunteer Day with seminar for newcomers
A three-hour seminar included all the themes, which could be interesting for both newcomers and experienced volunteers. What is the volunteer movement? What are the main duties of volunteers? In what events do volunteers participate? All these questions were discussed at the seminar organized by specialists of the city administration’s Youth Affairs and Tourism Development Division. The guys learnt about the difficulties the volunteers face with in the course of their activities. At the meeting, creative group for preparation and participation in the regional contest “Volunteer of the Year” was formed. Besides, new uniform was demonstrated there as well.
The Nakhodka Volunteer Corps operates under the city administration’s Youth Affairs and Tourism Development Division. It is one of the leading formations in Primorye. The main proof of that are numerous wins at various regional competitions. Volunteers from Nakhodka often participate in the events of the highest level. The guys are organizers of such patriotic actions as “St George Ribbon”, “Day of the heroes of the Fatherland”, “Dove of Peace”. They are constant participants of so-called community days on which they clean the most difficult areas. Young volunteers are also engaged in social activity. They render assistance to disabled people, war veterans, elderly people and orphan kids. Moreover, members of the Nakhodka Volunteer Corps help in organizing of such holidays as Day of Nakhodka, Day of Youth and various regional events. The guys contributed in organization of the summit of the Asia-Pacific Region in Vladivostok, the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi. Chairman of the corps Vera Krasavskaya became winner of the all-Russian competition “the Victory Ambassador”. The girl earned the right to be a volunteer at the Victory Parade in Moscow.
Volunteers also hold actions aimed at prevention youth from alcohol and drugs addiction and organize seminars on HIV/AIDS prevention.
The volunteer movement was formed in Nakhodka in 1999. The number of new members of the corps increases rapidly. The Nakhodka Volunteer Corps now consists from 160 boys and girls.
