14.12.2016    Delegation from Maizuru headed by the Mayor of the city Ryozo Tatami made official visit to Nakhodka on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of sister-city relations establishment

Delegation from Japan also consisted from chairman of the Maizuru City Assembly Ueno Osami, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Konishi Tsuyoshi, employees of the city administration.

At first, the honorary guests visited the City Hall, where they were welcomed by the Head of Nakhodka Andrey Gorelov, first deputy head of the city administration Boris Gladkikh, aide to the head of the city Irina Scherbina, head of the Nakhodka Chamber of Commerce and Industry Andrey Krasilnikov.

Andrey Gorelov expressed gratitude to Japanese side for warm welcome of Nakhodka delegation in the course of its visit to Maizuru on the occasion of the 55^th anniversary of sister-city relations establishment. The Head of Nakhodka Andrey Gorelov called signing of the sister-city agreement a very significant historical event. That agreement was the first one in the history of Russian-Japanese relations.

“For already 55 years our cities have been developing friendly ties making significant contribution in strengthening of sister-city relations and deepening of mutual understanding between the countries. Experience accumulated over the years is a solid foundation for the expansion of cooperation in the spheres of economy, culture, sports and tourism, as well as the education of the younger generation in the spirit of mutual respect and friendship”, Andrey Gorelov stressed.

The Mayor of Maizuru Ryozo Tatami, in his turn, noted that friendship and trust had become the hallmark of Nakhodka-Maizuru relations which were a reliable foundation for long-term partnership. Head of Japanese delegation also expressed hope that their visit would help to find new areas for mutually beneficial cooperation. The delegates had expressed a strong interest in the modernization of the existing sea terminals and construction of new ones, as well as construction of Nakhodka Mineral Fertilizers Plant.

Both sides expressed desire to strengthen and develop friendly ties on the basis of mutual understanding. Special attention was decided to be paid to broadening of economic cooperation.
